<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a correction characteristic acquisition device that acquires a correction characteristic for correcting an image signal so that dots due to screen processing do not appear at the maximum density. <P>SOLUTION: An output characteristic acquisition unit 11 acquires an output characteristic of an output device. A correction characteristic calculation unit 12 calculates a correction characteristic for correcting the output characteristic acquired by the output characteristic acquisition unit 11 to a preset target characteristic. At that time, when the maximum density of the output characteristic is lower than the maximum density of the target characteristic, modification for increasing the maximum density of the target characteristic is performed, and thereafter a correction characteristic for correcting the output characteristic to the modified target characteristic is calculated.
