<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary electric machine for vehicles, capable of completely detecting abnormal off-timing of a switching element when implementing synchronous rectification using the switching element. <P>SOLUTION: A generator 1 for vehicles includes: armature coils 2, 3; two rectifier module groups 5, 6; an upper MOS on-timing determination section 103; a lower MOS on-timing determination section 104; a target electrical angle setting section 105; an upper MOS T<SB POS="POST">FB</SB>time calculation section 106; an upper MOS off-timing calculation section 107; a lower MOS T<SB POS="POST">FB</SB>time calculation section 108; a lower MOS off-timing calculation section 109; a load dump determination section 111; a power supply start/stop determination section 112; an off-timing abnormality determination section 121; a synchronization control stop determination section 122; and drivers 170, 172. The off-timing abnormality determination section 121 determines abnormality of off-timing when the time from the off-timing set by the upper MOS off-timing calculation section 107 and the lower MOS off-timing calculation section 109 until a phase voltage of a phase winding reaches a first threshold value is shorter than a predetermined time. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
