<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag device capable of exactly protecting a pedestrian by suppressing a reaction force from a member at the vehicle body side supporting an air bag when expansion is completed. <P>SOLUTION: The air bag device is folded and housed in the vicinity of a boundary between a front pillar 1 and front glass 6 and is provided with the air bag 25 expandable so as to cover the front surface 1a side of the front pillar 1. The air bag 25 is constituted so that a shape after the completion of the expansion is formed to be long so that the axial direction is made to progress nearly along the axial direction of the front pillar 1. The air bag 25 has a nearly round cross-sectional shape when the expansion is completed and is constituted so that the center C is arranged in an area of the front side of the front glass 6 and the expansion is completed by protruding the end 26b of the outside of the vehicle to the outside from the front edge 1b of the front pillar 1 in the vehicle inside and outside direction along the vehicle width direction to cover the front surface 1a side of the front pillar 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
