<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon substance combustion catalyst which can burn carbon substances such as PM at low temperatures and is excellent in water resistance and a catalyst carrier. <P>SOLUTION: The carbon substance combustion catalyst is prepared by solid-dissolving an alkali metal other than Na in an aluminosilicate containing at least Na and replacing the alkali metal and Na. In the carbon substance combustion catalyst, Na replaced with the alkali metal is deposited on the surface of the aluminosilicate. In the catalyst carrier, the carbon substance combustion catalyst is carried on a ceramic base material.
