PURPOSE: A system and method for flow detection are provided to enable selective detection of heavy flows when monitoring and detecting flows. CONSTITUTION: A cache memory(170) comprises plural layers, and stores plural flow ID values for each layer. A control unit(110) stores a flow corresponding to the flow ID value. A flow generating unit(150) generates the flows based on the information included in a packet. The flow generating unit generates the flow by considering the departure address information, the arrival address information, departure port information, the arrival port information and the protocol type information which are all included in the packet. |
