<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reactor core top part monitor capable of confirming a presence/absence of an obstacle on the upper part of a reactor core and measuring a scram time. <P>SOLUTION: The reactor core top part monitor 1 which monitors the top part of the reactor core 9 in a nuclear reactor 3 where liquid metal is used as coolant includes an ultrasonic sensor 31 for transmitting an ultrasonic signal in almost horizontal planar way so as to cross over the top of the reactor core 9 and receiving reflection waves and a control part 37 for processing the received signal of the ultrasonic sensor 31 and determining an existence of an obstacle in the transmission surface 41. The control part 37 has a scram time measurement part 47 for receiving a scram start trigger signal for separating a control rod, computing a time until the control rod passes through the transmission surface 41 as an obstacle and calculating a scram time. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
