<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thiophene polymer which has excellent charge transporting ability, and to provide a method for efficiently producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The thiophene polymer is represented by general formula (1) (wherein: n denotes an integer of ≥60; R denotes either of a linear, branched or cyclic 1-20C alkyl group or alkoxy group, and a linear, branched or cyclic 2-20C alkoxyalkyl group or ester group).
