1279109 Amides; ureas; carbamates SOLTEX 18 Dec 1969 [19 Dec 1968 6 Nov 1969] 61836/69 Heading C2C [Also in Division D1] The invention comprises compounds of the formula where R is a tolylene or hexamethylene radical and A and B each independently represent the groups NHR<SP>1</SP>, NHR<SP>11</SP>, NR<SP>1</SP> 2 , NR<SP>11</SP> 2 , 0R<SP>1</SP>, OR<SP>11</SP>, R<SP>1</SP> or R<SP>11</SP>, where R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>11</SP> each independently represent an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical C n H 2n+1 , where n is an integer from 12 to 22, with the proviso that, when R is tolylene, A and B are not both aliphatic hydrocarbon radicals. They are prepared by reacting the diisocyanate OCN-R-NCO with an amine ANH 2 and/or BNH 2 to produce a urea, with an alcohol AOH and/or BOH to produce a carbamate, or with an acid ACOOH and/or B.COOH to produce an amide. In examples 2,4- and 2,6- bis - (3 - octadecyl - ureido) toluene, -bis - (3- dioctadecyl-ureido) toluene, -bis-(octadecylcarbamoyl) toluene, and octadecyl N-[3-octadecylureido) tolylene] carbamate are prepared. Compounds I act as water-proofing agents for textiles. |
