<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing conversion element, a polarizing conversion unit, and a projection device, which are long in lifetime and excellent in optical characteristics, and to provide a method for manufacturing the polarizing conversion element. <P>SOLUTION: This polarizing conversion element 300 includes: an element body 310 having an optical incidence surface 310A and an optical emission surface 310B which are almost parallel with each other; and a phase difference plate 320 bonded to the optical emission surface 310B of the element body 310. The element body 310 includes: a plurality of translucent substrates 311 successively bonded to the optical emission surface 310B at a prescribed angle; a polarizing separation film 312 and a reflection film 313 alternately provided between the plurality of translucent substrates 311; and an adhesive layer 314 respectively formed between the plurality of translucent substrates 311.
