<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect abnormality on an inverse rotation side of a crank angle sensor with an inverse rotation detection function even when a means to forcibly reverse an engine is not used. <P>SOLUTION: A crank angle sensor outputs crank angle signals of different pulse widths for normal rotation and inverse rotation by determining the rotating direction of a crank shaft. A first crank angle counter counts the crank angle signals output from the crank angle sensor by changing over addition/subtraction in accordance with the rotating direction, and a second crank angle counter is counted up every time a predetermined number of crank angle signals are output from the crank angle sensor after cylinder determination is completed in starting. A normal count value of the first crank angle counter corresponding to the count value of the second crank angle counter is calculated as a count value for determination, the count value of the first crank angle counter is compared with the count value for determination, and inverse rotation-side abnormality of the crank angle sensor is determined when both of them do not coincide with each other. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
