A printing composition for polyolefin surfaces which renders them receptive to ink or paint comprises 2-10% by weight resin, 2-10% drying oil, 0.01-0.1% dryer, and a solvent comprising perchloroethylene or trichloroethylene and 0-30% dichlorobenzene, based on the total composition, the dichlorobenzene being at least 15% of the total when the composition contains perchloroethylene. The resin may be a natural resin, such as rosin, a metallic resinate, an ester gum, a phenolic, modified phenolic, coumarone-indene, terpene, or petroleum resin. Various drying oils are specified. The drier is lead, cobalt or manganese naphthenate or linoleate. The composition is applied at 80-100 DEG C.
