1287600 Making embossing dies ADDRESSOGRAPH MULTIGRAPH CORP 15 Dec 1969 [18 Dec 1968] 61025/69 Heading B3A [Also in Division B6] Embossing discs.-An embossing male disc punch has a plurality of radial fingers 24 which are stamped with characters, the recessed side of the characters being filled with a compression resisting material, such as an epoxy resin with iron powder, or a brazing alloy, the material being ground flush, Fig. 8b (not shown). The disc may be formed of low or medium carbon steel, e.g. AISI 1070 in annealed condition by punching in several stages. Resistance to character collapse due to repeated use is reduced by the filling. A mating female die disc is formed from a blank of medium steel or alloy and the dies formed by a coining or sinking operation. A hub section 48 and a raised ring section 50, Fig. 11, are machined and the character is formed on the raised planar surface. |
