According to an example embodiment, a method is provided for detecting and removing impulse disturbances associated with a sensor signal. The method can include receiving signal samples from a sensor, detecting an impulse disturbance when a difference magnitude between a current sample and a previous impulse-free sample is greater than a predetermined threshold value, and outputting the previous impulse-free sample when an impulse disturbance is detected.
