In the structure in which the vehicle body side bracket (11) and the column side bracket (12b) are connected with each other with a locking capsule (57) at only one portion of a center portion in a width direction thereof, an upper end rim of a pair of overhang portions (63) that are projected toward right and left sides of the column side bracket (12b) is caused to be opposed to a lower end rim of a bent portion (56) of the vehicle body side bracket (11) in proximity thereto. Even if a large moment is applied to the column side bracket (12b) when the steering wheel is rotated with a steering lock device operated, the column side bracket (12b) is prevented from excessively tilting.</p>
