<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for arranging dimples which ensures the symmetry of an underlying polyhedron of a dimple pattern is preserved while surely minimizing or eliminating great circles due to the molding process. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention provides the method for arranging dimples 12 on a golf ball surface in which the dimples 12 are arranged in a pattern derived from at least one irregular domain 14 generated from a regular or non-regular polyhedron. The method includes choosing control points of the polyhedron, generating an irregular domain 14 based on those control points, packing the irregular domain 14 with dimples 12, and tessellating the irregular domain 14 to cover the surface of the golf ball 10.
