<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid a problem associated with a failure of a sensor of a liquid cartridge. <P>SOLUTION: The cartridge includes a reservoir for storing ink, a flow passage which communicates with the reservoir, a valve which is movable in the flow passage and adjusts the flow rate of ink in the flow passage, and a sensor unit (a unit including a Hall element as a magnetic sensor for detecting the valve and a magnet for generating a magnetic field).
