<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing heater, fixing device, and image forming apparatus able to adjust power consumption corresponding to a paper size, with a simple configuration and without requiring a complicated structure and control. <P>SOLUTION: A resistance heating layer 32 that generates heat by electric conduction is uniformly formed on a substrate 31. According to a paper size, electrode pairs 33a, 33b, 33c, and 33d for electrically conducting the resistance heating layer 32 are arranged as an electrode pair with a distance between the electrodes, which distance corresponds to the paper width. The electrode pair with a first distance between the electrodes, which corresponds to a paper width, is interposed in the electrode pair with a second distance between the electrodes, which distance corresponds to the paper width greater than the first distance between the electrodes. Therefore, the electrode pair 33b is interposed in the electrode pair 33, and the electrode pair 33c is interposed in the electrode pair 33b. By electrically conducting an electrode pair corresponding to the width of conveyed paper, heat is generated only in the portion of the resistance heating layer 32, which portion corresponds to the paper width. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
