A network equipment failure processing method and a packet data network gateway equipment are provided in the embodiments of the present invention. The method includes: determining the failure of a service gateway, and saving the context of the user equipment served by the service gateway; when the downlink data packets that are related to the saved context of the user equipment are received, triggering a mobile management network element saving the context of the user equipment to reestablish the bearer of the user equipment. Applying the embodiments of the present invention, the failure state of the service gateway can be determined by a packet data network gateway, and the mobile management network element is notified of initiating a reestablishment flow when the downlink data packets that are related to the saved context of the user equipment are received, and thus the reestablishment or restoration operation is triggered in time, the reestablishment connection time is shortened and the normal data transmission is ensured. |
