The storage system has a pressure accumulator (3) which is connected with electrically-driven pump (10) through an accumulator valve (20). The accumulator valve is a passive accumulator valve and is independent of the operation of electrically-driven pump and dependent on adjustable pressure limit. The accumulator valve is switched to connect the electrically-driven pump with pressure accumulator in primary state and to connect the electrically-driven pump with load (5) in secondary state. An independent claim is included for method for operating hydraulic storage system.
