OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE ELEMENT AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE ELEMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide element and a method for manufacturing the optical waveguide element, in which a light-receiving element can be fixed by using a photosetting adhesive to a substrate where a conductive film is formed.

SOLUTION: An optical waveguide element 1 includes: a substrate 10 having an electro-optic effect; optical waveguides 101 to 104 formed on a surface of the substrate 10; electrodes 105 to 107 which are formed on the surface of the substrate 10 and control light waves propagating in the optical waveguides 101 to 104; a light-receiving element 20 which is fixed to the substrate 10 with a photosetting adhesive and monitors a part of the light waves propagating in the optical waveguides 101 to 104; and conductive films 110, 120 formed on a counter face of the substrate 10 opposite to the surface where the optical waveguides 101 to 104 are formed, and formed on another face. A conductive film non-forming portion 130 having no conductive film 120 formed therein is provided in a part of the counter face so that the photosetting adhesive can be irradiated with light from the counter face side through the substrate 10.
