<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skew detection method and a skew detection device capable of detecting a skew without reversely conveying a recording medium, and a printer having the same. <P>SOLUTION: The skew detection method includes a second detection means moving step of moving a second detection means to a detection position separate in the width direction from a first detection means by using the first detection means which is fixedly provided to detect a tip of a recording medium and the second detection means which is scanned in the width direction to detect the side end of the recording medium; a first detection step of feeding the recording medium in a feeding direction, and executing the first detection of the tip of the recording medium by the first detection means; a second detection step of feeding the recording medium in the feeding direction, and executing the second detection of the tip of the recording medium by the second detection means; a distance acquiring step of acquiring a feeding distance in which the recording medium is fed from the first detection to the second detection; and an inclination calculating step of calculating the inclination of the recording medium based on the feeding distance, a difference in distance between the first and second detection means, and a distance between the first and second detection means in the width direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
