<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ease off dazzle of a driver of a following vehicle and to prevent a mistake of reduction of the light for release of braking by changing a dimming rate of rear lamps in response to an inter-vehicle distance between one's own vehicle and a following vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: The rear lighting system 1 for a vehicle includes: rear lamps 2 for lighting the rear of one's own vehicle; a dimming circuit 3 for adjusting the quantity of the light of the rear lamps 2; and a controller 4 for controlling the dimming circuit 3. A rear radar 5 for detecting an inter-vehicle distance between the one's own vehicle and the following vehicle, a front radar 6 for detecting an inter-vehicle distance between the one's own vehicle and a vehicle going ahead, and an illuminance sensor 9 for detecting brightness in the periphery of the one's own vehicle are connected to the controller 4. The controller 4 controls the dimming circuit 3 so that the dimming rate of the rear lamps 2 rises as the inter-vehicle distance between the one's own vehicle and the following vehicle becomes shorter. Further, the controller 4 predicts a start of the one's own vehicle based on the inter-vehicle distance between the one's own vehicle and the vehicle going ahead, and controls the dimming circuit 3 so as to increase the quantity of the light of the rear lamps 2 at a time point of prediction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
