A rotator location detection unit (11) comprised in a synchronous machine activation device further comprises: a timing detection unit (21) which outputs a first location signal which denotes a timing whereat a value of armature voltage of a synchronous device passes a prescribed reference level; a feedback computation unit (23) which computes an estimated phase error on the basis of an estimated phase which denotes the position of the rotator, the estimated rotation speed of the rotator, the armature voltage, and the armature current, updates the estimated phase and the estimated rotation speed on the basis of the computed phase error, and outputs a second phase signal which denotes the updated estimated phase; a frequency detection unit (24) which detects a first frequency which denotes the present rotation speed of the rotator of the synchronous machine on the basis of the first phase signal as an initial frequency which corresponds to an initial value of the estimated rotation speed; and a selection circuit (SEL) which selects among the first phase signal, a phase signal obtained on the basis of the first phase signal, and the second phase signal, in said order, and outputs the selected phase signal to a power conversion control unit (19). |
