<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video data transmission device and a video data transmission method capable of transmitting video data corresponding to the image processing format executed by a display device. <P>SOLUTION: A video data transmission device according to an embodiment for transmitting video data to a display device which performs video processing corresponding to the video data format for 2D or 3D display to display a video comprises acquisition means and transmission means. The acquisition menas acquires discrimination information indicating whether the display device uses which of the 2D and 3D video data formats to perform the corresponding video processing.
