POLICY CONTROL AND CHARGING SUPPORT FOR WIMAX VOICE SERVICES

Systems and methods for integrating control and charging functions with Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access Voice Service (WVS) include a WVS server, a policy distribution module, and an enforcement function module. The WVS server receives a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) request, wherein, optionally, service information is embedded in a Session Description Protocol (SDP) offer associated with the SIP request. The WVS server initiates a policy control and charging session by sending service related information to a policy distribution/decision function module. The policy distribution/decision module receives the service related information and then authorizes policy charging and control (PCC) rules. The policy distribution/decision module then sends the PCC rules to an enforcement function module. According to the PCC rules, the enforcement function module establishes/modifies an internet protocol (IP) bearer with a target mobile station.
