<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grid plate for a lead acid storage battery, capable of achieving longer service life in a battery by maintaining a function for holding an active material for long periods of time and preventing the formation of a passive film on a surface of a grid strand. <P>SOLUTION: A grid plate for a lead acid storage battery comprises: a frame section; and a longitudinal grid strand and a lateral grid strand that form a grid inside the frame section. In the grid plate, the longitudinal grid strand and the lateral grid strand comprise: a thick strand with thinner thickness than the frame section; and a thin strand with narrower width and thinner thickness than that of the thick strand. The thick strand and the thin strand are arranged so that the strand adjacent to the thick strand is the thin strand, and thereby space is secured for facilitating the flow of an active material to the side of the thick strand. The two ends of the thick strand in the thickness direction are positioned further inward from the two end faces of the frame section in the thickness direction, and the end of one end side of the thin strand in the thickness direction is arranged in a position offset to one end side of the thick strand in the thickness direction.
