<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reinforce glass even with a thin coating film. <P>SOLUTION: A glass-reinforcing method for reinforcing a glass sheet comprises: a step of performing a hydrophilizing treatment on a surface of the glass by a surface dry treatment; and a step of impregnating or contacting the glass with a glass-reinforcing solution containing a metal alkoxy compound represented by the formula: R<SB POS="POST">m</SB>M(OR')<SB POS="POST">4-m</SB>(wherein R and R' are each an alkyl group; M is a metal; and m is 0, 1 or 2) or a step of impregnating or contacting the glass with a glass-reinforcing solution containing a metal hydroxide represented by the formula: R<SB POS="POST">m</SB>M(OR')<SB POS="POST">4-m-n</SB>(OH)<SB POS="POST">n</SB>(wherein R and R' are each an alkyl group; M is a metal; and m and n are each an integer, provided that n≥2). The glass reinforced by the method has a glass surface hydrophilized by the surface dry treatment, whereby a glass-reinforcing film component enters microcracks present on the surface of the glass to reduce the microcracks. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
