<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel synthetic resin square container having an improved beautiful appearance by improving the shape retaining property of recessed portions which are formed at barrel sidewalls for preventing the generation of surface sink. <P>SOLUTION: A PET bottle 1 includes a barrel 4 connected from an opening 2 via a shoulder 3 and formed in a polygonal shape by the plurality of barrel sidewalls 4a-4c, and a bottom 5 is integrally connected to the lower end of the barrel 4. In the barrel section sidewall 4c at the side of the bottom 5, the bottle 1 includes the recessed portions 7 which are recessed toward the inside of the barrel.
