PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge unit for producing a large amount of active species having high reactivity.

SOLUTION: The discharge unit (1) includes an electrode pair (21 and 22) for producing streamer discharge in water and a power supply part (30) for applying DC voltage across the electrode pair (21 and 22) and hydrogen peroxide is produced in water by the streamer discharge. The positive pole of the electrode pair (21 and 22) is formed of a metal containing copper or iron.
