<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength splitter using a WGM resonator in which lowering of characteristics of an element is suppressed while the scale of the element is reduced. <P>SOLUTION: A wavelength splitter includes a plurality of waveguides and a plurality of resonators by way of Whispering Gallery Mode. Each of part of the plurality of the resonators among the plurality of the resonators satisfies a resonance condition of first light, which is in a propagation mode of either TE or TM and has a first wavelength. The part of the plurality of the resonators are subjected to resonant coupling of the first light with the waveguide and are arranged from the waveguide in order to form one coupling resonator type optical waveguide. Each of part of the plurality of the resonators among the plurality of the resonators satisfies a resonance condition of second light, which is in a propagation mode of either TE or TM and has a second wavelength. The part of the plurality of the resonators are subjected to resonant coupling of the second light with the waveguide and are arranged from the waveguide in order to form one coupling resonator type optical waveguide. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
