<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing technology for reducing a sense of incompatibility of a stereoscopic image in terms of perspective visibility by decreasing a distance error nearby an image area boundary. <P>SOLUTION: Edges are extracted from a two-dimensional image of a subject whose stereoscopic image is to be generated, and a distance image is corrected nearby mutual boundary QM between respective areas enclosed with the edges. At such an area boundary, distance information on one area RA is mixed with distance information on the other area CA because of a perspective conflict, so that the distance information tends to vary to the value of the distance information on the other area toward the area boundary QM, which causes an error. For suppression of such wrong variation, pixels which are nearby the area boundary QM and have large variation in distance information are so corrected as to suppress the variation in the distance information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
