<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure strength of a brush attaching portion while weight of a motor housing is reduced and to prolong life of a carbon brush and a commutator in the motor housing of a commutator motor. <P>SOLUTION: The commutator motor 12 has the motor housing 17 which is die cast-molded with magnesium alloy. The motor housing 17 includes a cylindrical body portion 27 holding a stator 18; a flange portion 28 formed at a front end of the body portion 27 and an end bracket portion 29 formed at a rear end of the body portion 27. An opening 35 constituting the brush attaching portion 34 is formed at a part of the body portion 27, and a partial region including the brush attaching portion 34 is made to be a thick portion 36 thicker than the other region. The thick portion 36 has length for the almost full length of the body portion 27.
