1291923 Film containers MINNESOTA MINING & MFG Co 15 Jan 1970 [16 Jan 1969] 2106/70 Heading G2A [Also in Division B8] A roll 16 of sheet material, which may be light-sensitive, is housed in a hollow cylindrical tube 22, and its leading end extends through a narrow slit 14 in the tube wall. This end is folded to lie first over the tube surface along one side of the slit, and then back so as to lie (as at 30) wholly over the slit. A covering strip 20 (e.g. of aluminium foil having a pressure-sensitive adhesive coating on one face) has a greater width than the folded flap 30, and is also longer than the tube 22. Thus when strip 20 has been placed in position, the slit 14 is securely sealed against light and moisture. When the roll is to be dispensed, the strip 20 is grasped and pulled away. The adhering flap 30 tears along the fold, so that there is still enough of the sheet 16 extending through the slit for it to be grasped and pulled out further. The roll 16 is wound on a hollow core 28, which is supported by embossed hubs 27 formed on the closure plates at each end of the tube 22. |
