摘要 1,210,392. Piezo-electric motors. OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY. 2 Aug., 1967 [10 Aug., 1966], No. 35534/67. Heading H2A. [Also in Division H4] A drive assembly (Fig. 2A) for an electromechanical transducer comprises a piezoelectric ring 74, a pair of resilient rings 60, 64 and a pair of non-resilient rings 62, 66. The arrangement is such that the piezo-electric ring 74 is under radial compression. Rings 60, 64 are preferably of silicone rubber and rings 62, 66 are of melamine resin impregnated fibre. Two such drive assemblies 74a, 76a (Fig. 2) may be under axial compression between spacers 30, 40 by a nut 32 threaded on one end of a bolt (50), Fig. 1 (not shown), integral with a horn 12. An electrode disc 86 is between the assemblies 74a, 76a. In use the electrode disc 86 and a flange 22B are at nodes at the drive frequency and the horn tip 12 is at an antinode. Alternatively the spacers 30, 40 are replaced by piezo-electric rings or by several smaller spacers (Fig. 3, not shown). In one embodiment four drive assemblies (73A, 74A, 75A, 76A), Fig. 4 (not shown), are used, there being three interleaved electrode discs (84, 85, 86). In another embodiment, Fig. 5, a pair of plates 14, 16 have two pairs of drive assemblies 7, 8 (such as shown in Fig. 2A) sandwiched between them and secured by studs. The working surface is a plate 17.
