Easy to administer phosphate binder formulation

Composition in the form of a free flowing granules or a chewable tablet comprises at least one phosphate-binding substance and at least one effervescent agent comprising a carbonate and a solid, organic, edible acid or its acid salt, where the composition is administered orally without the addition of water. Independent claims are included for: (1) a stick pack containing 0.5-4 g of the composition; and (2) a composition in the form of a non-tableted granules containing at least one effervescent agent, and calcium acetate and magnesium carbonate in a weight ratio of 1:1-4:1. ACTIVITY : Nephrotropic; Metabolic. MECHANISM OF ACTION : None given.
