PURPOSE: A cosmetic composition containing Saccharina japonica extract for skin whitening is provided to suppress tyrosinase activity and melonogenesis. CONSTITUTION: A cosmetic composition for skin whitening contains 0.001-5 wt% of Saccharina japonica extract as an active ingredient. The extract is extracted using 50-70 v/v% of hydrous acetone. The extract contains phloroglucinol, eckol, eckstolonol, dieckol, phlorofucofuroeckol A, and phlorofucofuroeckol B. The composition is manufactured in the form of a solution, suspension, emulsion, paste, gel, cream, lotion, powder, soap, surfactant-containing cleasing, oil, powder foundation, emulsion foundation, wax foundation, or spray. |
