The present invention relates to an abrasion resistant adhesive tape, in particular for sheathing elongate material such as more particularly lead or cable looms, comprising at least a strip type substrate, at least one self sticking adhesive layer consisting of a pressure sensitive adhesive on at least one side of said substrate and, accessorily, a covering extending in the longitudinal direction of the adhesive tape and covering partially or totally said adhesive layer, wherein the strip type substrate consists in a satin fabric having a repeat greater than 2 and a step number greater than or equal to 1, said satin fabric comprising warp and weft threads made from synthetic spun yarns.
