PURPOSE: A battery power storage system and a controlling method thereof are provided to minimize an inrush current due to voltage imbalance of the batteries by controlling voltage imbalance of the batteries. CONSTITUTION: A BESS(100) is connected to a GMS(Global Management System)(110) and an EMS(Energy Management System)(120). A PCU(103) performs a power conversion control, system power control, and battery charging/discharging power control. A BCS(Battery Conditioning System)(104) manages data of Sys BMS(105). A Rack BMS(106) manages data of a unit BMS. A HAVC(107) manages temperature and moisture of the battery.
