The rim of the head may be in the form of a short cylindrical portion 16. The head may have a flattened central region. When joining two plates 15 of equal thickness, the radius of curvature of the flared portion preferably equals the thickness of one plate. In making a joint, the countersink in the top plate is not fully cut out, leaving some metal to be peened on or before riveting. |
