Continuous balancing, in use, of a wheel and tyre assembly is achieved by the insertion into the cavity of a tyre 12 a mixture comprising a dense weighting material 42, a less dense positional retaining material 52 and, least dense, a liquid conveyer 44, which substances, on rotation of the assembly, are centrifugally separated as shown in Fig. 6, depositing the weighting material in position within the region of the tyre having low weight. The positional retaining material, which may form a viscous gel with a portion of the liquid conveyer, holds the weighting material in position when rotation of the assembly stops, but, due to its non-drying nature, permits slow creeping of the material to compensate for subsequent inbalances created in the tyre.
