发明名称 A CORRUGATED PLATE AND RESERVOIR EMPLOYING SUCH PLATES
摘要 1,209,527. Corrugated metal plates. A. BAKS. 29 Jan., 1968 [30 Jan., 1967], No. 4567/68. Heading E1K. [Also in Division F4] The bottom and sides of a generally rectangular liquid methane storage tank are formed of corrugated metal plates 8, 9 Fig. 12 each having parallel crest and trough fold lines which extend in wave form in planes parallel to the general plane of the plate and a wave crest when viewed in a direction normal to the plane of the plate forms part of a predetermined curve and merges into the adjacent troughs which form reflected image of the crest either at a point of inflexion or by means of a common straight line tangent portion whereby a strain applied to the plate in one direction in said general plane results in a substantially equal strain in a perpendicular direction in said general plane. The general direction of the waved corrugations in the floor-forming plates 8 is normal to the theoretical line of intersection of the floor with plate 9 of an adjacent side and the waved corrugations in side plates extend generally parallel to said line of intersection. The floor and side plates are connected by means of a plate 10b having straight line corrugations, in the same direction as the waved corrugations of plate 8 and welded to the edge thereof, and the opposite straight edge of plate 10b is welded along a line 12 to a vertical plate 10a and having its upper edge cut in the shape of the waved corrugations in plate 9, and the so cut edge at plate 10a is welded to one edge of an undulating strip 11 having its other edge welded to the adjacent waved edge of plate 9. In a modification the lower edge of the wall 9 Fig. 13 is curved as in Fig. 12 but the edge of wall 8 to be connected to wall 9 is cut to provide a waved edge of the same shape as the fold lines in both walls 8, 9. Connection between walls 8, 9 is effected by a generally horizontal undulating plate 14 welded at 17 to the lower curved edge of wall 9 and a generally vertical undulating plate 13 welded at 15 to the cut edge of wall 8 and welded at its upper edge 16 to the adjacent edge 18 of plate 14. The troughs 19 in weld line 17 are secured by rods 20 to support means on the imaginary line of intersection of walls 8, 9 whilst the tops 28 of weld line 15 are secured by rods 23 secured at their other ends to support points 21 on said imaginary line. A conner connection for three walls 8, 9, 29 Fig. 14 is provided by connecting walls 8, 9 by a curved plate 10 which corresponds to connected plates 10a 10b of Fig. 12, by connecting walls 9, 29 by a curved plate 30 and walls 8, 29 by a curved plate 31. Close to the corner point proper are three flat plates 32, 33, 34 each welded perpendicularly to the curved plates 30, 31, 10 respectively whilst also being perpendicularly welded to each other. Gas leaking through say a vertical wall of the tank flows along the generally horizontally extending waved corrugations which are substantially closed by the surrounding wooden wall into a vertical channel extending along opposite vertical edges of the tank to a gas detecting apparatus. Alternatively a protective layer of inert gas may be forced through the vertical channel and into said corrugated channels.
