A method for controlling a DRC(Data Rate Control) channel of an EVDO(Evolution Data Only) is provided to enhance data transmission efficiency by preventing a DRC lock signal, which can stop transmission of a DRC channel, from being transmitted according as an access network erroneously determines. A DRC lock signal is checked(S310). When the DRC lock signal is 0(S320), a timer is operated(S330) to increase power of a DRC channel(S340). It is checked whether the time set in the timer has lapsed(S360) and it is also checked whether power of the DRC channel is greater than the maximum value(S370). When the set time has lapsed or when power of the DRC channel is greater than the maximum value, the DRC channel does not designate a sector in which a DRC lock signal is 0(S380).
