A master cylinder for a brake system is provided to allow air in an inlet groove formed in a second piston to be smoothly discharged when brake oil is introduced into the master cylinder. A master cylinder for a brake system comprises a cylinder body(20) having a bore(21) formed therein, first and second pistons(23,24) installed at the inside of the bore of the cylinder body, first and second liquid chambers(31,32) formed in the bore, a first return spring(61) installed in the first liquid chamber, a second return spring(62) installed in the second liquid chamber, a spring support device, and an inlet groove(80) formed at the rear end of the second piston. The second piston is formed with an air discharging port(81) to communicate an upper part of the inlet groove and an outer surface of the second piston so that the internal air in the inlet groove is smoothly discharged.
