Very finely divided orthophosphates are produced from H3PO4 and soluble chlorides of group (II) elements or Al by mixing to clear soln. or paste at MeO:P2O5 or Me2O3:P2O5 molar ratio 0.6-3.5 and spraying mixture into countercurrent or parallel inert gas stream at 190-450 degrees C, as in 1.196,166, but, before spraying, soln. of paste is treated with NH4Cl or H3 to increase or with H2SiF6 to reduce bulk density. Process enabless bulk density to be optimised according to intended use. Products can be used in lacquers and as anticaking agents, where high bulk density is required, and to regulate quality of technical materials of varying bulk density. |
