A flow regulator comprises a ground glass piston 9 sliding in a ground glass bore 6 of a valve housing to control the flow from an inlet 1 to an outlet 5 via radial openings 3. A variable restriction in the inlet has a pressure differential across it with the downstream side communicating directly with the piston while the upstream side communicates with a chamber below the piston via a passage 8 having a variable restriction 10. The piston may be lifted to completely interrupt the flow by an electromagnet 11 or alternatively the electromagnet may be actuated in a manner variable with time to impose on the piston operation a time variable element.</p> |
