PURPOSE: A position sensing device for carriage is provided to control accurately driving speed, driving distance, driving direction, stationary state of the carriage car by using an encorder. CONSTITUTION: A position sensing device for carriage(1) includes a vertical member(5), a shaft supporting member(11), a shaft member(8), a second shaft member, a timing pulley(4), an encoder(6). The shaft supporting member is installed on the top of the vertical member. The first shaft member is projected to the front side of the shaft supporting member. The second shaft member is projected to the backend of the vertical member. The timing pulley is engaged with a timing belt. The location of the carriage car is precisely detected by the encoder combined in the timing pulley.
