摘要 PURPOSE: A steering angle calculation method for an electric power steering system is provided to reduce the number of components and manufacturing costs by calculating a steering angle using the electrical angle of a motor, column torque, and the wheel speed of both side wheels, and car speed without a steering angle sensor. CONSTITUTION: A steering angle calculation method for an electric power steering system is as follows. The electrical angle of an electric power steering motor is input through a motor position sensor(S10). The rotation angle of a column is calculated based on the electrical angle(S20). The initial position of a handle is calculated(S30) and then the present rotation angle by the column rotation angle is set as the basic position(S40,S50). An error from a reduction gear is revised for the present rotation angle(S60). The steering angle is calculated by the rotation angle of the column based on the basic position(S70).
