PURPOSE: A fire detection method is provided to rapidly inform fire generation from smoke and flames by recording and analyzing an image of a monitoring target region for fire detection. CONSTITUTION: A candidate region which includes movements is extracted among recorded images from an image recording apparatus(S205). Statistical properties of a predetermined probability distribution function with respect to the candidate region are acquired using color information of corresponding pixels of the candidate region(S206). A flame or smoke region in the candidate region is determined(S2071,S2072).
