PURPOSE: A method for treating Parkinson's disease by controlling VDAC1 protein is provided to prevent mitochondria malfunction and to basically treat Parkinson's disease. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for treating Parkinson's disease contains an agent for controlling VDAC1(voltage-dependent anion channel 1) protein. The agent is a drug which suppresses mRNA of VDAC1. The agent is asiatic acid. The agent is mitochondria calcium influx inhibitor, Ru360. A method for treating Parkinson's disease comprises a step of administering an agent for controlling VDAC1 to an individual.
