PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for detecting the maximum vibration frequency of a linear oscillatory actuator are provided to enable the efficient detection of the maximum oscillation frequency of the linear oscillatory actuator. CONSTITUTION: A calculation module(340) measures the residual oscillation frequency of the linear oscillatory actuator and determines the measured residual oscillation frequency as the maximum oscillation frequency of the linear oscillatory actuator. When the application of a signal for driving the linear oscillatory actuator is stopped, the residual vibration remains in the linear oscillatory actuator. A host unit(310) transfers the residual oscillation to the calculation module and applies the driving signal of the linear oscillatory actuator.
